DISCLAIMER this padlet is meant for use only within SEOULITE – it is in no way a representation of the real jung chaeyeon, nor is it connected to bh entertainment in any form. any resemblance to existing individuals, backgrounds, driving stories, etc., are purely coincidental; hyejin is fictional, and created solely for this roleplay.likewise, there are mentions of real-life occupations and institutions within this carrd; i would like to emphasize that what i've written (and will be writing in the upcoming future) is in NO way an accurate depiction of how their responsibilities / organizations truly work, thank you very much!
REMINDER kindly read through this carrd before pinging me to plot / connect. the details included might be basic for now, but they're still necessary facets to the character. please heed the content warning tags, as well – a rudimentary list will be given per request.i have done my due diligence with research and world-building, however please feel free to give me constructive criticism if you feel that my writing lacks proper representation, or if i have strayed too far from the narrative. respect begets respect; let us foster a healthy writing environment for everyone, thank you so much!
IMPORTANT i am NOT my character; ic and ooc are two different ballparks! what we discuss privately isn't always guaranteed to be true in writing, unless confirmed by both muns. and please do not godmod hyejin – should there be instances where a writeup necessitates her involvement, please run the idea through me first! who knows, i may help you add a few things to make her more realistic in your writing.
PLOTTING i prefer discussing plots and connections versus winging, just so we have a solid backstory for our characters. this process is a two-way street; please don't hesitate to pitch in when we do! i love it when there is an active exchange of ideas, to make their connection more realistic.
LOCATION: you can either: (1) easily reach me via my character's pms, or (2) ask for my discord, although i would like to ask that you not share this personal detail of mine to others, if you ever do.
OTHERS: with hyejin, romance is a possible route, however! plotting endgames might hinder any developments that she may have in line with the roleplay, so that is not a priority. i love building and expounding on my characters; threads that support that are always welcome! i will also only do nsfw threads if both mun and oc are 21+. spicy stuff will depend on the plot and the overall chemistry between both muses.
WRITING DISCLAIMER: english is not my first language, biggest apologies if my grammar tends to be wonky!
STYLE, LENGTH: strictly writing in third pov only, present and/or past tense, no purple prose. length will vary, but as far as i'm concerned i have never touched the novella department. that being said, there's no need to mirror my writing length! considering the rp, keep one-liners only in ooc chat, please – seeing that in replies will drop my muse.
OTHERS: communication is key; please let me know if you think our plot has been dragging on for too long, if you want to switch writing tactics, or if you want to drop threads. emphasis on the last one – i won't be mad, i promise!
ACTIVITY current activity is at 7 or 8 / 10.
TRACKING: do NOT poke me – rest assured that i have a personal tracker and it is updated accordingly, thank you!
OTHERS: i promise i don't bite! friendly dms are always welcome; no guarantees i can reply right away, but i swear to get back to you at the earliest possible time. i'm always happy to gain new writing friends!

doosan magazine's very own gyopo; basically, a watered-down emily in paris. "graphic design is my passion!" personified (the less meme-y version). smiski-infested desk. a yapper, but will also brainstorm quietly with you; surprisingly efficient. "i fucking hate math," then proceeds to minor in ui/ux!? walking duolingo (or papago, for all the hanguk normies out there). pochacco decoden phone case. blood type CAF+; nonexistent pre-coffee, decent human being after it. will dish out compliments one minute, and backhand you into diss town the next. seafoam green stanley. "let them eat cake," and will mean it. stickered-up macbook. chronically online or perpetually dnd, no in-between. force of nature (identifies as a tornado).

i hate this plan―but let me do it anyway.

origins
hyejin is the youngest child from a relatively affluent family—her father is an attorney-statesman, currently holding the fort as consul general of south korea in new york, while her mother owns and runs a chain of luxury spas & health clubs in korea; her older brother, on the other hand, works as a government prosecutor. moreover, her father's side of the family owns a rather infamous law firm, known for its high case-win rate and for representing high-profile clients inside the courtroom. coming from such a background, onlookers have always expected her to follow in her dad's footsteps, much like her brother did.and yet, during the asian financial crisis, their family had to relocate to new york—where, at the tender age of four years old, hyejin displayed an apparent inclination for the arts (as if picking up a toy camera during her doljabi wasn't enough indication). such interest was further piqued as the institution she was eventually enrolled into fostered the growth of both scientists and artists alike; the heightened exposure prompted hyejin to flourish in the field, excelling in areas where her brother didn't. where he won debate tourneys and went places with his penchant for written journalism, hyejin shined with her art pieces—drawn, painted, mixed media—and her proclivity for languages, the former even garnering her awards in competitions of her own. by the time junior year of high school rolled around, she was even dabbling in graphic design, making use of her school's editing software to hone her craft whenever she could.thus, although they would have preferred that she stuck to family tradition, hyejin's parents decided to let her pursue her passions; who were they to impose on their daughter's dreams? it was why they moved to the united states in the first place: to give their children better prospects in life. in time, hyejin graduated high school and applied for the top university for arts in new york, where she spent the next four years with like-minded individuals. and support her, they did—her parents readily paid for tuition out-of-pocket when she chose to take a semester in london, established a home office setup to help with her courses, and even occasionally spent sleepless nights with her as she worked on her portfolio during the junior- and senior-year internship periods.
present
and truly, it wasn't for naught—somehow, hyejin scored internships for all her preferred companies, and even joined small ones, where she played a huge part in their developments. seeing their daughter's determination, all they could do was offer their quiet yet steady support from the sidelines,

even when hyejin's mother and brother made their move back to korea first in 2015.four years of university came and went, and even though hyejin was swamped with recruitment letters immediately after graduation (finishing at the top of your class does wonders), she eventually chose to return to the motherland and pursue her master's degree at seoul national university. to prevent her skills from rusting, joohee went on job-hunting sites and offered her services to foreign establishments who needed to kickstart their businesses, all while she worked as a teaching assistant for professors in her department ("we don't know where she got all that energy from," per her parents). and in 2019, she got her first real stint at a job: becoming a graphic designer for an infamous advertising agency that's only worked with the biggest brands across multiple industries.but a year in, and hyejin decided to leave, as she wanted to bask in greener pastures (aka, "burnout is so damn real")—that is, somewhere that was more aligned with some of her personal interests. once she heard through the grapevine that doosan magazine (condé nast's south korean "counterpart") had a job opening, she didn't hesitate to pull up her cv and apply; long story short, she got the job, started working for the media empire—a little too well, actually, considering that she's been stuck with them for the past five years—and quickly promoted to senior brand designer within her third year.at this point, her only trajectory within the company is upward... and perhaps, if she continues to stay, seoul will feel—at last—like home.
in-depth
to most people at doosan—and beyond its pristine floor-to-ceiling windows—yang hyejin is still a paradox, largely due to the fact that she had been living in new york for the past two decades before coming back to korea. don't be fooled by her sweet disposition: as a senior brand designer, hyejin refuses to just bring ideas – she wants movement, doesn't settle for merely "fitting the brief", whether that means she goes on a deep-dive into a cultural subtrend or convincing the higher-ups that it's okay for their team to try something nobody's ever had the balls to do before. her previous work experience in the usa has honed her mind into always chasing the next big thing both at work and in life, that nothing is ever really out of reach for too long once she puts her mind into it... and if it means keeping the entirety of south korea on their toes, then so be it.
hyejin doesn't just walk into rooms – she charges into them with the kind of calm that practically screams it would be unwise to underestimate what she's capable of. she is lightning in a bottle personified, a visionary with teeth, the kind of woman who would break barriers during your morning commute and rebuild your foundations before lunchtime even rolls around... and she'll do it in her trusty pair of louboutins, too. she reads people quite swiftly, and even when she's warm and expressive on the outside, best believe that she's already reading into what ticks you off and what piques your interest like it's a covert operation. because how else will she survive the hustle and bustle of the city?
picture this: handwritten encouraging notes on coffee cups; curated playlists to help inspire you to finish an insufferable project before its deadline; coming over to quietly fix your broken shoe heel at 7am; organizing surprise dessert runs to get you through a hellish week (no, the others don't need to know, hush); random moments of recall ("hey, this reminded me of that video you showed me the other day")... this is the kind of camaraderie she provides: assertive, but overall warm. sure, joohee may struggle with overcommitment, and will want to do everything herself to ensure things go exactly how she envisioned—she's the kind of team player who would push through burnout to deliver brilliant results, though deep inside she secretly hopes someone will tell her "you've done enough."—but when conflict arises, trust that she will willingly work with you to make things right.

habits
has particular leg wiggles that she does when agitated or happy. uses a blanket when she sleeps, but never covers her feet. takes ice-cold showers. rewrites e-mails and texts at least three times out of the irrational fear that she sounds indifferent in them. mumbles to herself when she's particularly focused on doing something. keeps a small journal for handwritten reminders; prefers it over digital records. a nail biter. tilts her head during conversations to show that she's actively listening. incorporates english into her speech when in a highly-emotional state. keeps two (2) phones, one cluttered & personal and the other solely for work. unconsciously touches her watch when deep in thought.

headcanons
hyejin's a big fan of korean variety shows, especially ones that constantly make her laugh all the air out of her lungs—she's even made it a life mission to meet yoo jaesuk at least once (and maybe get his signature too, while she's at it).
currently drives a citrine brown mercedes-amg g63—she loaned some money from her parents to buy her car and is now working on paying them back in installments! hyejin also jointly owns a portimao blue bmw z4 m40i roadster with her older brother; the car is stored at the family home, and they take turns using it every three months.
she can't work or sleep with background noise; it's why she soundproofed her bedroom at home and her entire apartment, and why she invested in much-needed noise-canceling headphones for on-the-go use.
always skips breakfast, save for a cup of coffee (she can't function for the day if she doesn't have it); most of the time, she eats brunch. that is, if she isn't too busy. she's also a picky eater - she detests vegetables with a passion.
loves spoiling her loved ones, or even just the people she's grown to befriend – once, she even bought her college roommate vip tickets to their favorite artist's concert... just for passing finals. so really, don't be surprised if she splurges on you, too. (it's usually just coffee or cake, anyway—hardly a dent in her wallet.)
has a penchant for listening to music in the dark, especially when she's focusing on editing, with only a desk lamp illuminating the room. for the vibes, she says.
surprisingly has high alcohol tolerance; hyejin is often the last one to get drunk at any event, thus she's usually the designated driver whenever she drinks with friends.
the current loves of her life are: (1) kimchi, a female glen of imaal terrier; (2) kimbap, a male standard blue british shorthair; and (3) a female stray cat she adopted two years ago named bokki.
hyejin often butts heads with her older brother, mainly because he's a serial worrywart—she's FINE, gets enough sleep (false), eats on time (another lie), and isn't stressed about work (triple kill), please.
due to her distasteful habit of biting her nails, hyejin always opts to get nail extensions. her reason? the more she realizes how expensive it is, the less she's inclined to bite them. (spoiler: it doesn't help, they chip too fast either way.)
a perfume connoisseur; she has a designated cabinet for them in her closet! hyejin doesn't mind shelling out for a bottle, so long as she likes smelling them on her. (she's pretty picky about them, too; has an entire wishlist and all.)

the childhood friend.
NOTE: must be 27-30, no gender preference! timeline tbd with mun to fit both narratives.
your muse has known hyejin for as long as you could remember, even ; they have seen her at her best and at her worst. she's your muse's confidante just as much as they are hers, and joohee is (quite possibly) their #1 fan (read: enabler, but only always for the good things!). not even adulthood can stop whatever havoc they wreak when they come together.
★ name / age / faceclaim.

the caffeine connoisseur.
NOTE: no gender or age preference! can be a new connection or a pre-established one.
joohee's the employee who, your muse seems to have noticed, has a cup of coffee on-hand 24/7. as someone with similar interests, you two hit it off right away (and you became her first friend at siseon!). now joohee's your go-to buddy for whenever you feel like getting coffee, at any time of the day. overall a lighthearted plot, your muse can also be an in-house barista who noticed that she likes coffee and tries to change up her tastes!
★ name / age / faceclaim.

the sweetheart turned sour.
NOTE: must be 29+ and male. more details can be discussed while plotting!
when joohee started dating your muse out of nowhere, people often said it wouldn't last, as most workplace romances do―in hindsight, they were right. cracks in the relationship eventually started to form, which culminated in The Breakup™ after just two months of dating. now, considering they work for literally the same company, they cross paths often―let's just say she isn't the biggest fan of it.
★ name / age / faceclaim.

the gossipmonger.
NOTE: no age preference, likely to be female. more details upon discussion with mun!
joohee may keep a low profile at siseon, but boy, does your muse know her. all too well, at that. her origins aren't exactly a secret, but joohee prefers to keep her private life under wraps, for the most part―a high-profile family doesn't necessarily mean she has to keep up with them. and yet, your muse always seems to find a way to get under her skin... by constantly associating her with her background. can't people have some peace around here?
★ name / age / faceclaim.

the deja vu.
NOTE: no gender or age preferences!
you've only bumped into joohee once (exact location and timing unrecalled), and even then, she'd been quick to utter an apology and proceed on her merry way (she was running late for a presentation). it's not that her face was distinct enough... it's her scent; her perfume at the time made it seem like she's a walking caramel macchiato. curiosity gets the best of you, but will you even recognize her again, is the bigger question?
★ name / age / faceclaim.

the one-sided work bestie.
NOTE: no age/gender/department preference! just a lil 'work later, drink now' situation.
to most of siseon's employees, joohee's The Import™, and as a result of certain workplace cultures, nobody has ever invited her out for a drink (yes, not since she started working there). you, on the other hand, said that's bs and had been the first to drag her out after a rather hectic day. now for some reason she's gone from total stranger to hovers-around-you-like-a-kicked-puppy. can you really afford to break this poor gyopo girl's heart?
★ name / age / faceclaim.
ONE muse a: "god, give me patience." / muse b: "i think you mean give me strength?" / muse a: "if god gave me strength, you'd be dead."
TWO "i saw my entire life flash before my eyes and i thought, ‘what a shame if i die now, i’m too young… and i’m wearing the wrong underwear.’"
THREE "my mistake; i thought since you look like yoda, you were also wise."
FOUR "my new neighbor is simultaneously the nicest and the scariest person i have ever met."
FIVE "i have fifty excuses in mind just to get out of this. would you like me to list them down in alphabetical order?"
SIX "why do blessings wear disguises? if i were a blessing, i’d be running around naked."
SEVEN "no! no, i will not have a nice day!"
EIGHT muse a: "do you ever consider the consequences of your actions?" / muse b: "i think we've well-established that i don't."
NINE muse a: "are you okay?" / muse b: "i'm literally on a hospital bed??? what about this says i'm okay???"
TEN muse a: "are you trying to pick a fight with me?" / muse b: "no dumbass, i’m flirting with you! i have been for days!"
